Every year, the European Union honors a European Capital of Culture, one city that offers exceptional artistic and creative contribution to the continent. This year, the accolades go to . . . London! Just kidding, they’re busy burning effigies of their keepers. The 2010 capital is Istanbul, which is all the more reason to catch the city’s myriad musical offerings in Istanbulive II: The Sounds & Colors of Turkey. The vivacious five-hour sampler includes performances by pop star Kenan Dogulu, rockers Duman, and saxophonist Ilhan Ersahin’s Istanbul Sessions. Presented as part of the Summerstage Festival.
