A couple of weeks ago, Jerome Chang spoke with The Lo-Down about business at DT Works, his brick-and-mortar incarnation of the Dessert Truck. He mentioned that he’d decided to branch out beyond desserts to make items that were more appropriate for daytime consumption, and admitted that his transition from truck to Clinton Street storefront had not been without its difficulties.
And while Chang told the blog that the truck was still available for parties and special events, he didn’t mention that he would be returning to the streets. But according to both Feast and the Dessert Truck’s Facebook page, Chang will revisit his old stomping grounds on St. Marks Place and Third Avenue beginning this evening. He’s secured a seasonal permit, and he will be on the streets through the end of October. Tonight he’ll have a “streamlined” menu, though back at DT Works he recently premiered an espresso panna cotta with ricotta-lavender ice cream and candied almonds.
