The Infinite Monkey Theorem, a popular statistical hypothesis, suggests that a chimp hitting typewriter keys are random would, given enough time, eventually produce great art. British producer Simon Green has already made such randomness work in his favor: his tastefully moody instrumental trip-hop influences led him this past spring to the terrific Black Sands, which sounded a bit like a Thievery Corporation/Boards Of Canada/Four Tet hybrid. Is it as appealing as the randomly typed, collected works of Shakespeare? That’s your call.
