These curators found a deep mix ‘n’ match talent. Joel Harrison was both clever and insightful when concocting the six duets that comprise this three-night bash—each alignment boasts kinship, contrast, or a savvy split between the two. Mary Halvorson and Vic Juris might seem poles apart, but they should arrive at some intriguing middle ground. Rez Abbasi and Brad Shepik should be able to wrangle a broad set of interests into a focused essay. Elliot Sharp and Marc Ribot are marquee abstractionists who invariably give their wayward lingo intensity. As for Harrison? He connects the strings of his National Steel with Anupam Shobhakar’s sarod.
