What’s Happening This Week: Mystery Wine; Good Beer

As you may know, our weekly dining and drinking newsletter features all the coolest epicurean events in the city.

Mystery Dinner
Spina Restaurant
Tuesday, July 27, 7:30 p.m.

As part of its Mystery Dinner series, the restaurant will offer a $65 four-course pairing menu featuring the wines of Damiani Wine Cellars in the Finger Lakes. Viticulturist Phil Davis will be in the house to discuss his wines and the winery’s foray into reds. The “mystery” part involves tasting the wines blind, with the identities of each bottle revealed at the end of the meal.

Farm to Table Talks
ABC Kitchen’s Elixir Bar
Tuesday, July 27, 5 p.m.
The Tuesday Farm to Table Talks series continues with “Cultivating the Next Crop of Farmers,” a discussion hosted by Dr. Brent Ridge of the Plant Green network show The Fabulous Beekman Boys. Participants will get to meet the farmers from a new development project that supports immigrants establishing small, local farms in an effort to preserve regional farmland and promote high-quality, locally grown products.

Good Beer
BAM Café at the Brooklyn Academy of Music
Wednesday, July 28, 4-8 p.m.

Good Beer is a celebration of, well, good beer. The $40 ticket will buy you admission to the event and the opportunity to taste mostly local brews from more than 20 different breweries alongside such beer-friendly bites as lobster rolls and fresh-baked pretzels. It’s the swan song to end the month of Good Beer, which ran through July.
