A Voce is hoping to spice up its drinks menu with new house-infused spirits and a happy hour to boot. Drinks made with the new Melone Infusion are just $7 Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Wine director Oliver Flosse shares the recipe.
“We wished to offer our customers more choices of beverages, inspired by fresh, seasonal fruit that changed with the seasons,” says Flosse. “We believe that our infusions are more unique and fresher than the current flavored offerings of the larger liquor producers.”
1 pound melon (mix of cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon)
1 liter vodka
Fill a one-liter infusion jar or bottle with the fruit, and infuse for five days at a time. Change the fruit every five days, as the alcohol soaks through it completely. (Eat the fruit at your own risk.)
Pour 3 ounces of the infused vodka in a cocktail shaker with ice, and add 1 ounce of limoncello. Shake vigorously and strain over ice. Garnish with a slice of fresh melon.
