Though he spends most of his time these days studying ethnomusicology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, this Pitchfork-approved psych-pop dude, Julian Lynch, hails from the sprawlingly insular New Jersey indie scene that also spawned Ducktails, Real Estate and plenty of other acts you can read (and debate) about on the Internet. A good number of those folks showed up at Lynch’s gig last month at Glasslands—read Leon Neyfakh’s epic account on the Voice‘s music blog—and “special guests” are promised tonight. Whoever ambles onstage, demand that Lynch play “Just Enough,” the bewitching opener from his new album, Mare. It’s very nice.
