Juliette Lewis

by

Kickass character actress Juliette Lewis could’ve gone the Minnie Driver or JLove route with her music, crafting poppy vagina monologues that riffed on the pressures of being a ’90s casualty who managed to make out with both Johnny Depp and Woody Allen. Instead, Juliette and the Licks imitated L.A. sleaze by way of Karen O, crafting rowdy art-rock with Juliette playing the role of Axl Rose. Her new band’s Terra Incognito added an easy surf rock lilt to all those theatrics, making Juliette’s live show the best-kept secret in Hollywood. Still, I’d rather she front a cover band of the Darkness. With Dearly Beloved.
