Behold, the Mesmerizing Sight of Justin Bieber’s Revenge: A Phone That Never, Ever Stops Ringing

This weekend, a Detroit teen named Kevin Kristopik made the dubious decision to hack to Twitter account of Justin Bieber’s best friend, Ryan Butler, thus obtaining Bieber’s phone number. What Kristopik did next was not smart: he texted Bieber. Phone number of his friend’s hacker now in hand, Bieber put it on Twitter, embedded in a swiftly deleted message that began: “everyone call me 248-XXX-XXXX 🙂 or text.” Kristopik promptly got “an estimated 26,000 text messages from around the world,” according to the Detroit Free Press. There were also a few phone calls (Bieber, it bears mentioning, has 4.5 million followers on Twitter). Kristopik has since changed his number, calling it “unusable.” But before he did, he made a mesmerizing video of his phone blowing up, over and over and over again.

Lynn Hirschberg feels your pain, Kevin.
