The Lo-Down attended last night’s Community Board 3 meeting and reports that the board approved the liquor license for Dans le Noir?, the Paris-based restaurant chain that hires blind waiters to serve food to diners under the cover of total darkness.
As mentioned yesterday, the restaurant will occupy the former Tonic space on Norfolk Street and is slated to open in November, according to its website.
The board also gave its approval to La Flaca, a New Mexican cantina taking over the former Two Boots Tavern space at 384 Grand Street. One resident from the Seward Park complex across the street showed up to complain, while the rest of the east Grand Street community happily anticipated the arrival of a restaurant that will offer neither pizza nor Chinese takeout.
The board wasn’t quite as kind to the owners of Pike Street Fish Fry and Via Tribunali, to be located next door to one another on an already booze-saturated stretch of Ludlow Street.
