The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is set to unveil his solo debut next month—in honor of his Las Vegas roots, it’s called Flamingo—and to soften up the ground in advance of its release, Flowers is in the midst of a brief American tour that wraps with this Highline gig. Produced by Stuart Price, Daniel Lanois, and Brendan O’Brien, Flamingo jumps from synth-slicked New Wave stuff to atmospheric Americana, with no shortage of the post-Springsteen flag-waving that boosted (or perhaps bogged down) the Killers’ Sam’s Town. Reports from the road indicate that Flowers is complementing his new material with a cover of “Bette Davis Eyes.” Intriguing!
