Even though they’ve been touring as of late, the last Old 97’s record is two years old. As for Rhett’s solo career, his fourth album came out last year and he’s lined up some Northeast dates for himself, so he’s clearly getting restless again. On his own, Miller indulges his pop tastes in a way that’s not too syrupy or sentimental. Maybe one day, he’ll square that with the country-rock of his band–until then, he’s earned the right to pursue his muse alone. With Zee Avi.
