The tag line “With Thurston Moore” would send ’em into peripatetic shock anywhere else in the country. Here in New York, it’s as familiar at Dr. Zizmor’s subway ads, and that’s incredible—even after decades in the mainstream glory with Sonic Youth, Moore remains so unassuming and effusively creative, he constantly sits in with smaller, leftist projects: Mats Gustafsson, Psychic Hearts Band, Teenage Jesus and Jerks, Leslie Keffer, and now local improv noise pair White Out. Their analog synths, earthy scrap-metal effects, and sonar wail should play nicely off Moore’s squall, if their recent joint album SENSO is any indication; any “Puddled Leavings” renditions will be an ungodly match made in Brooklyn.
