When performance artist Ann Liv Young appeared at P.S.1 back in February, her trash-talking Southern blonde alter ego, Sherry, made fun of another artist, peed in a bowl, and masturbated in time to “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The art center responded by cutting the lights and power in the middle of her show. The most upsetting thing about it? “I poked myself in my vagina with my nail,” said Young. She may have ridden home in a pumpkin that night, but Sherry is the belle of the ball once again with her new interpretation of the classic fairy tale Cinderella. The one-woman show stars Sherry as all the storybook characters as she takes on the one-dimensionality of female roles created by men. The show runs tonight and tomorrow, with a special treat on Sunday: Young’s Sherry persona will return to P.S.1 to mediate a discussion about the February incident, “geared toward healing and generosity.” Knowing Sherry, it could just mean that, this time, she’ll use some lube.

Fri., Sept. 3, 8:30 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 4, 8:30 p.m., 2010
