The last time we heard from Matthew Tilden, the SCRATCHbread founder told us he had just moved his business to Bedford-Stuyvesant, following a brief stay in Red Hook. He had also started a “right to deliciousness” Kickstarter campaign to help fund his new bakery, and hoped to raise $25,000 by September 2.
So far, the campaign has raised $9,140, but even though Tilden’s short of his goal, he’s still in a festive mood.
On Sunday, August 29, the baker is inviting all comers to a party at his new space, where he’ll be “breaking some bread, and previewing tasty bites from SCRATCHbread’s toast menu at our walk-up retail window.” That menu will include stuffed savory muffins, griddled chai sticky buns, and “other morsels of deliciousness”; there will also be loaves of bread for sale. Liquid sustenance will come from Brooklyn Soda Works, and produce from BK Farmyards will also be available. The party kicks off at 2 p.m. and is scheduled to go until 6 p.m.; head over to 1069 Bedford Avenue, at Lexington Avenue, to join the festivities.
