Video released yesterday shows the 33 trapped Chilean miners singing the country’s national anthem, giving a tour of their 600-square-foot living space, and telling their families they are doing fine. The men appear in good health, although on average they have lost about 22 pounds in the three weeks they have been trapped a half-mile underground.
Their rescue is expected to take months; it could be December before they see the light of day, and yesterday, Chilean officials told the men how long it would be before their expected recovery. In the meantime, food, supplies, lights, and even medication and anti-depressants are being funneled down a narrow hole to keep the men as comfortable as possible.
Here is a clip of the 45 minute footage. More videos are posted on the New York Times website.
