The news here — especially relevant if you take drugs, have children or both — is that tomorrow, PBS will launch a new program entitled “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That.” That sounds really fun and all, but is lent a certain extra dose of credibility because the series is co-signed by Audrey Geisel, the widow of Theodor Geisel (better known as Seuss), as well as the author’s last editor, Kate Klimo. The pair seems to really be behind the project, and not just the money, as evidenced by Klimo’s comment on the Mike Myers Cat movie, which “epitomizes the challenges in bringing a great book to the screen.” To put it lightly! But the best part comes when Klimo describes the character of the Cat, nailing it for anyone who was once a child and is not an adult:
Klimo admits the Cat can be “anarchical” and likens him at times to “Fred Astaire on nitrous oxide.”
And now it all makes sense.
