Eater today carries a conversation with Peter Meehan, erstwhile $25 and Under critic and cookbook co-author extraordinaire. Over the course of the interview, Meehan sheds some light on the latest goings-on of his Momofuku cookbook collaborator, David Chang.
It seems that Chang has recently opened a kitchen lab in the East Village. Meehan describes it like this:
“It’s … like a workshop for him and his guys who work there to come up with stuff. It’s non-commercial and there’s no direction to it. On some level right now, I think he’s figuring out what comes next.”
What’s next may be a book deal or something TV-related, but for now, Meehan says, “it’s all proposals and ideas and lunches with alcohol but nothing inked.”
Also, although he and Chang have their disagreements, they do see eye to eye on “our love of Pavement.”
