You’ve stared at your tickets for a year. You’ve bit your lip and refrained from hurling Shakespearean insults every time they magically added another show before yours. You’ve rewatched the epochal 1994 Tonight Show rendition of “Cut Your Hair,” with its cracked-out yelping, jocund tambourine hopping, and that look of barely-tamped rage on Jay Leno’s face when the guitar falls on his foot. Pavement can prove otherwise tonight, but it’s doubtful; we know those days were the ones worth having. Now play “Blue Hawaiian,” pretty boy.
