While organic restaurant owners have to work hard to convince diners to pay more money for organic foods, Alberto Gonzalez has apparently worked hard enough to take his act on the road. Crain’s reports the owner of GustOrganics Restaurant & Bar has just opened an organic food cart, Organic Carts NYC, in Midtown, and is hoping to launch two or three more in the near future. For now, the flagship cart, which is operated by Gonzalez’s business partner, Alejandro Rad, is selling $7-$9 organic beef, chicken, and vegetable wraps, $4 empanadas, and $3.75 orders of hummus with chips. There’s also “super purified NYC water” for $1.50. It comes, of course, in a bio-compostable cup.
