So yeah, if you thought “Free Jazzmatazz,” the blunted, Vijay Iyer-featuring, borderline spoken-word drug odyssey that we premiered here last week was going to somehow be any weirder or more outré than the rest of Das Racist’s second real mixtape, Sit Down, Man, you were wrong.
First listen highlights include the epic/mock-epic Boi-1da-produced “Hahahaha JK?”, the Enigma-sampling “Return to Innocence,” which pretty much does the original what their Billy Joel-by-way-of-Cam’ron sampling “You Oughta Know” did on the first tape, and current live staple “All Tan Everything.” Also here? Diplo (whose Mad Decent label is co-releasing the mixtape), El-P (!), the recently YIMBY’d Roc Marciano, veteran producers Dame Grease and Scoop Deville, and a completely uncleared Doors sample. Download it at Mishka NYC, or see them at this nifty release party at Santos Party House Thursday:
Open vodka bar from 8 to 9pm! Pray these guys go on before that.
