Triveni finds him in a trio with bassist Omer Avital and drummer Nasheet Waits, filling a fair amount of negative space with the kind of informal wisdom that an improviser can really make a name on. Themes appear–Trane’s “Wise One” and Duke’s “Mood Indigo” get a twirl–but the music is all about the communication between its creators, which is absolutely arresting in some spots. This is freebop as a dialect that incorporates all other languages.
