Welcome to The Best Thing I Ate Yesterday, where we endeavor to remember the very best thing we stuffed down our gullets over the past 24 hours. Why? Because the only thing better than enjoying a meal is wallowing in the memory of one savored in the recent past.
Today’s fond reminiscences …
Robert Sietsema: French fries in a cone with “especial sauce” (mayo, ketchup, and raw onions) at Pommes Frites (123 Second Avenue, 212-674-1234).
Rebecca Marx: Roasted beets with thick, homemade yogurt and chervil from ABC Kitchen (35 East 18th Street, 212-475-5829), at Let Us Eat Local.
Chantal Martineau: Homemade pizza according to Mark Bello’s Pizza a Casa recipe.
Jesse Hirsch*: For breakfast, two thin slices of pizza topped with pepperoni, onion ,and basil, from Patsy’s on the Upper East Side (1312 Second Avenue, 212-639-1000).
*Jesse Hirsch will be playing the role of Sarah DiGregorio while she’s on vacation.
