“Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars,” the subtitle of Miranda Lambert’s recent tour, is pretty well zeroed in on her demographic. Sure, she originally took hold of fame via the CMT talent contest Nashville Star, but leave the honeysuckle to Carrie Underwood and the boop-boop-be-doop to Kellie Pickler–Lambert’s balancing a Bud Light between her knees while steering the truck, tuning her guitar, and maybe stuffing shells into a scatter gun. Brassy territory isn’t a new trope: that two-track has been driven down before by the Nashville power elite. But Lambert’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” take has been entertaining to watch evolve over three successful albums; Revolution, her latest, is decidedly rocked up. Can you smell the crossover? With country bro Eric Church and AAA bro Josh Kelley.
