The 4th Annual Copa Jerez sherry pairing competition will take place in Jerez, Spain in January. The U.S. finals, which will determine who represents the U.S. next year, will be held at Astor Center on October 6. The finalists include Casa Mono‘s Andy Nusser and his wine director, Ashley Santoro, as well as José Andrés and his sommelier at The Bazaar in L.A., Lucas Paya.
The other finalists are chef Bertrand Bouquin and his sommelier Timothy Baldwin of The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, chef James Campbell Caruso and sommelier Adam Johnson of La Boca in Santa Fe, and chef Michelle Bernstein and her sommelier Allegra Angelo of Michy’s in Miami. May the best (ahem) pair win.
