We’re just going to define them as “experimental-prog-indie-abstract-mumble-noisecore” and head to happy hour; even with five more moderately inane micro-genres, it’d still be easier than calling them DD/MM/YYYY. The meandering, esoteric Toronto quintet clearly thrive in their vagueness, from rotating instruments to spazzily hopscotching time signatures. 2009’s Black Square was hard to grip, but they’re best live, anyway; their SXSW gigs have been the stuff of multi-hyphenated legend for years.
