How does a man who has climbed to the top of a pole go farther? Can’t guess? Japanese actor Yoshi Oida may provide you with a few answers to this riddle (called a koan) and more at his comic solo play Interrogations: Words of the Zen Masters. This is a rare chance to see the celebrated actor—who has not appeared in New York in 12 years—perform what is widely considered to be his masterwork: He plays the Zen master and asks the audience questions so that, Oida says, “together we move towards a moment of shared delight.”
