A couple weeks ago, we told you about the new Mediterranean wine bar, Lallisse, coming soon to Murray Hill. Now, we hear that the grand opening of Lallisse is slated for this Friday, October 8. Evan Spingarn, the consulting sommelier who selected the sustainable wines at Tangled Vine, is responsible for this list, too.
“The concept is a relaxed, neighborhood Mediterranean wine bar with an 85-90 percent sustainable/organic/biodynamic list of 100 wines,” he writes in an email. “With an impressive 40 selections available by the glass.”
Expect small-production, hand-made wines (“No industrial wines!” promises Spingarn). He also says he will have a “fall focus on the historic 2009 vintage in Beaujolais,” as well as a section of the list called Fertile Crescent, consisting of “conscientious selections from Greece, Israel, Lebanon, and Turkey.” The décor is on the rustic side with reclaimed wood tables and homemade furnishing. Opening night will feature the live band The Deputies, but is invite-only until 10 p.m. when doors open to the public.
