If you think sherry is all about your sweet tooth, it’s time you got schooled in the drier side of these wines. Get to know the different styles, from bone-dry Fino to rich, raisiny Pedro Ximénez, and find out why sherry is experiencing a Renaissance.

Brooklyn Bacon Takedown
The Bell House
Sunday, October 17

If you think the bacon bubble has burst, think again. The Brooklyn Bacon Takedown is back with some 20 different amateur cooks going head-to-head for the title of best bacon recipe in the borough and a grand prize of, yep, more bacon. Each participant will be given 15 pounds of Hormel Black Label cured pork products to play with, while attendees get to walk around sampling the entries. So, regardless of who wins, everyone wins.
