Mexican Summer, the eclectic vinyl offshoot of Greenpoint label Kemado, covers a lot of ground tonight. Since leaving New York for the foggy climes of San Francisco, Tamaryn has brought her dream pop into soft focus. Her latest, Waves, retains its inherent darkness amid washes of guitar while highlighting her Siouxie and Hope Sandoval influences. Lower Dens, the new Baltimore-based project of singer-songwriter Jana Hunter, frames her dusky drawl in such a way as to suggest a latent Tom Petty influence. Robert Lester Folsom is a private press denim-rock curio revived by the label’s astute ears. With Viva l’American Death Ray Music, Soldiers of Fortune, and No Joy.
