Our parents still haven’t gotten the hang of online socializing—instead, they just embarrass us on Facebook. But the gray-suited ’80s icon they let babysit us via our televisions Saturday mornings is way more tech-savvy. Last week, Paul Reubens was out and about in New York City promoting The Pee-wee Herman Show, his long overdue stage adaptation of the TV show from our childhoods. The Broadway affair reunites Reubens with Jambi the genie, Cowboy Curtis, Pterri, Miss Yvonne, and many more beloved members of the Playhouse gang, and to get the word out, Pee-wee sent out digital messages from every stop, from High Line Park to the 125th Street subway station. If you didn’t catch him, the Stephen Sondheim Theatre tonight is a sure bet.
