In this era of Gastronauts and Bizarre Foods, it takes a lot to gross out a true foodie. Especially in New York, where cod sperm and bull penis are readily available dishes. But there are definitely a few images in food photographer Neil Setchfield‘s new book, Yuck! The Things People Eat (available on Amazon), that might make even the most adventurous epicurean recoil. Exhibit A: stir-fried tarantulas. Other dishes, like balut (boiled duck embryo) and boiled sheep’s head are shot to gross you out, but might just make you hungry depending on how bad-ass an eater you are.
