Richard Belzer told me this at a party the other night.
Tarantino has long harbored a deep-seated love for Jerry, who was one of his icons when he grew up.
In fact, when Tarantino was asked by teachers to clean up the art room, he’d comically knock over the easel and do other shtick in emulation of Jerry’s movies.
(I’m sure they were thrilled.)
When the budding auteur later got into moviemaking, he also used some of the craft he’d learned from being a Jerry fan.
Which is sweet, but I just don’t get it!
Might Tarantino really be French?
