From the sounds (or lack thereof) of it, last night’s CB3 SLA committee meeting was an uneventful one, but there was one development of note: The former Slipper Room space will become an oyster bar.
The Lo-Down attended the meeting and reports that Rob Shamlian (Spitzer’s Corner) and Frank Vivola (Bruschetteria) won approval for a liquor license for the bar, which they plan to open at the corner of Stanton and Orchard streets. The place will have some 70 seats, a 25-foot bar, and a seafood-centric menu featuring many raw-bar selections. And while it will sport a windowed facade, those windows will have to close at 10 every night.
And, speaking of noise, it looks like the Mamajuana Café won’t be opening a second location in the old Tonic space; they withdrew their application shortly before last night’s meeting. Hopefully Subway won’t get any ideas.
