BITTER DIVIDE

by

Having survived the dark tower and his trip to Al-Qaeda, journalist turned dramatist Lawrence Wright arrives with a new play about the Gaza Strip titled The Human Scale. Wright, a Pulitzer Prize–winning New Yorker writer who combines incisive analytics with a humanitarian streak, journeyed to the disputed territory in 2009, conducting numerous interviews for an article about the seemingly insoluble divide between Israelis and Palestinians and the narrow belt of the land upon which much of that conflict centers. Now, with President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton making a renewed effort for accord in that region, Wright has, with the help of artistic director Oskar Eustis, shaped his reportage and reminiscences into a one-man show: Call it “Piece in the Middle East.”

Mondays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 4. Continues through Oct. 31, 2010
