Finding the Best Croissant in NYC


As we’re well-aware, fall is list-making season. Today, Serious Eats adds another to the compendium by ranking the Best Croissant in New York.

Following several months of strenuous butter consumption, tasters rated Soho’s Ceci-Cela as their No. 1, thanks to its “‘Great butter flavor!’ “Perfect flaky shatter!’ “Pull-apart layers!'” Even more thought-provoking? Serious Eater J. Kenji Lopez-Alt calculated that tasters who ate their way through the final round’s 15 contenders each ingested about 8 1/2 tablespoons of butter, or a little more than one stick. Ah, field research.
