Six months after the original Dean Street location in Brooklyn closed, the second incarnation of Freddy’s Bar & Backroom — to be known henceforth as “Freddy’s Bar” — is finally on its way to becoming a reality. The owners signed a lease yesterday for a space at 627 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. The previous owner of the bar is no longer involved. Donald O’Finn, the former manager, and bartenders Matt Khun and Matt Kimmett have since taken over ownership.
In a press release, O’Finn writes that the liquor license is still pending and renovations have yet to take place, but that the new bar will have the “flavor” of the old Freddy’s. It will host videos, art exhibitions, live music, and other acts, as the original did. And the website — freddysbackroom.com — will remain intact.
