Le Comptoir, the French bistro ex-La Goulue chef Sébastien Chamaret opened this summer on Grand Street in Williamsburg, has so far just been open for brunch and lunch. Now, it’s open for dinner.
The bistro launched with day service because it was awaiting a liquor license. The license is still pending, but dinner service will start anyway from Thursday to Sunday. Chamaret will turn out such market-driven dishes as potato gnocchi with duck confit and butternut squash, marinated mackerel and pickled chanterelles, Long Island sea bass a la plancha, and Sterling Farm strip steak with fingerling potatoes and béarnaise sauce, as well as his signature bacon cheeseburger sausage with lentils. A “Spontaneous Chef’s Tasting” menu is a good deal at $45 for six courses. And, of course, brunch and lunch are still available.
