Community Boards Are ‘Communist Boards’ to Disgruntled Restaurant Types

For anybody’s who’s ever suffered and/or snored through a community board meeting, today’s Wall Street Journal has a fun look at Community Boards 2 and 3 SLA committee meetings, portrayed here as “dreary meeting rooms where tempers flare, tears are shed and the back and forth can stretch on for up to eight hours.” Although much of the story treads familiar ground (i.e., the Keith McNally-Village Paper saga), it contains some choice quotes along the lines of “they should call them communist boards instead of community boards” and, from McNally, “It was as if I was applying to join a very exclusive Co-Op.” Sound like fun? CB2’s next meeting takes place on November 9, CB3’s on November 15.
