As the release of Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy on November 22 approaches, it seems to be hard for the man to focus on anything else. During a conference call late last week, which streamed online in its entirety, West all but ignored the clumsy questions lobbed his way; he was too busy showing off five versions of his album cover. Then over the weekend, West’s promised GOOD Friday track surfaced at nearly 4 a.m. on Sunday. That said, crafting and releasing arguably the most anticipated album of the year is probably a worthy object of one’s attention.
And it doesn’t mean West is stiffing fans in any way on the additional free music he’s providing, evidenced with yet another easily enjoyable GOOD Friday entry. Kanye West fans have quickly become one of the most spoiled cohorts in existence.
For this week’s listening pleasure it’s “Looking For Trouble,” featuring West’s now-trusty
GOOD Music capo Pusha T, his future ambassadors Cyhi da Prince and Big Sean, along with Jay-Z’s chosen one J. Cole. And it’s all presented over a rousing sample of Steel Pulse’s “Blue Dance Raid,” which may sound familiar from Cam’ron’s “Bubble Music.”
West sounds empowered and irreverent and Pusha as comfortable as ever. The rookies all show up too, making competing with this crew — Charlie Wilson, Kid Cudi and, uh, Jay-Z waiting in the wings — look increasingly impossible.
