Kolker’s one of those saxophonists who bring a lithe sensuality to every line, even those that come out of his horn with their dukes put up. He’s also one to place a keen intellectualism in the center of every solo, although the pure pleasure of his improvs sometimes masks the witty gambits of his interplay. That might not be the case this evening, because any trio with bassist John Hebert and drummer Billy Hart tracking the action is bound to nudge interplay front and center. Each participant loves to operate in the moment.
