Street bass leader Starkey makes something like the Philly version of dubstep: massive bass shaped by melody and hip-hop, with grime and tropicalia grabs. His second album, Ear Drums and Black Holes, is out on IDM-turned-dubstep label Planet Mu, but tonight he and partner-in-sound Dev79 are celebrating their own label and hosting a roster of Seclusiasis artists: Sonkin, SiYoung, and DNAEBEATS, who’s made mutant SF hip-hop with Gift of Gab.
