Construction behind its storefront has been going on for awhile, but if the above photo is any indication, King Gyro looks like it will be opening sooner than later. Located between East 3rd and 4th Streets, it will bring Middle Eastern-leaning fast food to lower First Avenue, which is already home to such fast/casual stand-bys as New Saigon, Downtown Bakery, Puebla Mexican Food, Village Restaurant & Pizza, and New Double Dragon.
King Gyro’s wares appear almost identical to those of East Village Pizza & Kebabs, which is located almost seven blocks north, but given the number of peckish barflys roaming First Avenue on weekend nights, there should be enough business to go around.
