Looks like the Le Fooding organizers weren’t the only ones with bi-coastal domination on their minds: the International Culinary Center – better known in these parts as the French Culinary Institute – is expanding to California.
Per a release, the school has purchased the Professional Culinary Institute in Campbell, CA, and is transforming it into a branch of its original Grand Street campus. In a feat of acronymic acrobatics, the new campus will be called The French Culinary Institute of The International Culinary Center in California (TFCIoTICCiC, for those keeping score).
The expansion is billed as the latest demonstration of FCI founder Dorothy Cann Hamilton’s desire to grow the school into a “premier global brand”; the school is also weighing the possibility of expanding to Europe and Asia, suggesting it has aspirations in line with those of another institute of French culinary education.
