Lucas Fine Foods may have closed its doors after only six months of business, but Ample Hills Creamery, the mighty fine ice cream company that operated out of the Park Slope gourmet store, will live on.
Per the Ample Hills Facebook page: “We signed our lease for our very own fabulous corner shop on Vanderbilt Ave!!! Scheduled to open this Spring.”
When he spoke with us in June, Brian Smith, Ample Hills’ founder, expressed his goal to open a store in Park Slope or Fort Greene. The store’s location in Prospect Heights sounds like it will be ideal for luring customers from both those neighborhoods and, together with the Blue Marble outpost on Underhill Avenue and the $9 gelato sold at Bklyn Larder, may establish Prospect Heights as an unlikely artisanal ice cream vortex.
