Young Kyle Hall spent his Detroit teen years impressing the masters of techno–he counts Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby, and Omar S. as mentors. But that shouldn’t imply that he’s imitating the old school; his organic techno is utterly unique. Lately, he’s found another big-name fan via releasing dubstep-influenced tracks on Kode9’s Hyperdub label. With more house and funky from London’s Shortstuff and live 4AD-style pop from Laurel Halo, plus Rem Koolhaus, Contakt, Space Jam, Mayster, and C-Sick.
