New York

The Post–Turkey Day Super Hike is a great antidote for too much stuffing or too much shopping. More than 1,400 acres, Van Cortlandt Park is another jewel in the NYC park system, boasting the nation’s first public golf course, the city’s largest freshwater lake, and miles of cinder trails and hills. It’s also legendary among movie buffs for being the site of the gang meeting in The Warriors, can you dig it?). Today, explore this gorgeous location when the Urban Park Rangers of New York City hosts the Post–Turkey Day Super Hike. Meet at the Tortoise and Hare statue, and be prepared for a great two-hour walk. (The hike is rated for the moderately trained.)
