Best known for early ’80s “rock and soul” hits such as “Maneater,” making former Saturday Night Live bandleader G.E. Smith wince through “Jingle Bell Rock” in granny drag, and one really big mustache, Daryl Hall and John Oates have begun working on their comeback. With a whole lot less facial hair, the pair commenced working on a new album in 2007–well, if you can believe Vice Records’ Hall and Oates wannabes Chromeo, who claim to have collaborated with them. But if the most they do tonight is run through hits like “You Make My Dreams,”as they did on the finale of this year’s American Idol, their audience won’t complain.
