Just a few weeks after Aureole flirted with a “C” from the Health Department and Serious Eats declared itself unimpressed by its pork loin, the restaurant has announced its chef will be leaving at the end of the year.
Chris Lee, who has presided over the kitchen at Charlie Palmer’s Bryant Park-area restaurant for two years, has given his notice. Presumably, he will be moving on to attend to his numerous consulting projects, which stretch from New Jersey to Miami to Las Vegas.
Replacing Lee will be Christophe Bellanca, who earned three stars from the Times for his cooking at Le Cirque before decamping for the BLT Group.
