Dir. Ludwig Berger (1932).
Weimar at its most insouciant: This charming quasi-musical, starring Willy Fritsch and Käthe von Nagy (and featuring the Comedian Harmonists), is a comedy predicated on the anonymity, coincidence, and mistaken identity inherent in urban life. Had it been made in Hollywood it would be a small classic.
